“This is aromatically similar to the straight Meursault villages but with more prominent floral nuances. The solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors brim with sappy dry extract and excellent richness to the palate coating and nicely powerful finish. This appealingly textured effort is quite tightly wound and will need time in bottle to fully mature. *Outstanding*” 90-92 points Allen Meadows – Burghound

A whiff of matchstick character can be found on the aromas of pear, apple and citrus rind. The rich, plum and very round flavors possess both good energy and volume before concluding in a citrusy and agreeably dry if not especially complex finale where a touch of gas is present.

There is better volume and mid-palate density to the delicious, vibrant and nicely rich middle weight flavors that possess an attractive mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the overtly rustic, compact and youthfully austere finale. This could use a year or two to unwind and perhaps add a bit more depth.” Allen Meadows Tasted: 10-APR-20Drinking Dates: 2021+

Domaine Ramonet is undoubtedly regarded as one of the finest producers in the Côte de Beaune and, whilst best known for their incredible Premiers and Grand Crus Chardonnays from Chassagne-Montrachet, they also make superb Aligoté from the village of Bouzeron, which is located just 5km away. The 2016 is a lovely wine from an appellation devoted to this oft-underrated variety, leaping from the glass with delicious scents of white apple flesh, spring flowers and toasty oak. Medium- to full-bodied, it is sleek and supple, with bright acidity, ample mid palate concentration and a long, mineral finish.

A beautiful intense, deep ruby-red colour. The nose is very pleasant and complex with spicy and fruity aromas. This wine is powerful, elegant and classy on the palate, with tannins present but not intrusive. The finish is full of finesse and long-lasting.
Will match well with Beef Bourguignon, Game, Coq au Vin, Beef Filet

An exuberant, fresh and ultra pure essence of red berry fruit nose is nuanced by wet stone and herbal hints and leads to detailed and equally stony middle weight flavors that are still quite primary and supported by a firm but ripe acid spine and fine length. A classic Chambolle that should make for a lovely villages. *Outstanding*

Mugnier’s 2008 Chambolle-Musigny is a gorgeous, translucent wine laced with sweet dark cherries, menthol, spices and licorice. It is totally striking and inviting from start to finish, with tons of perfume and a seductive, enticing personality. The 2008 doesn’t quite have the immediacy of the 2009, but readers lucky enough to find it won’t be disappointed. It should be even better in another few years, once the tannins soften a touch. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. (AG)

The Chambolle-Musigny Villages is produced from a tiny parcel of vines in the southwest portion of the commune and also includes some declassified 1er Cru fruit from Les Baudes and Fuées. From the excellent 2018 vintage, this is surprisingly fruit-laden, juicy and fresh yet has classical Vogüé firmness and youthful rusticity to the finish.

€1.450,002000 saw a warm, dry July and August with a small amount of rain from mid-September onward. Composed of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2000 Latour has a deep garnet color and is showing a good amount of evolution, sporting mature notes of fried exotic spices, hoisin, unsmoked cigars and fruitcake with hints of incense, potpourri, cast iron pan and charcuterie. Medium-bodied, soft, plush and savory in the mouth, it has a long, mineral-tinged finish. 14,000 cases were made this year, representing 48% of production. €1.650,00100 Points – The 1986 Mouton-Rothschild is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot…It has a powerful and intense bouquet as always: exemplary graphite and cedar scents, a touch of black pepper and incense. It seems to unfurl in the glass, like a motor revving its engine. The palate is beautifully balanced with its trademark firm tannic structure, a Mouton-Rothschild with backbone and masculinity. Layers of black fruit intermingling with mint and graphite, a hint of licorice emanating from the Merlot, gently fanning out and my God, it is incredibly long. It is not like the 1985 Mouton-Rothschild that is so fleshy and generous. This is serious, aristocratic Mouton, a true vin de garde and yes, I do think drinkers will have to wait until it reaches its true peak. Sometimes that’s just the way it is. Tasted September 2016.
