An intense dark ruby colour.  The nose has a complex bouquet of rose and violet floral aromas and fruity aromas, with a few discreet woody notes.  The attack is round on the palate and then the tannins show their strength. This wine is well structured and corpulent, with long-lasting aromas and a fine representative of this famous Grand Cru.

Mid-purple. Brambly, forest fruits, with some leafy touches. Cinnamon-vanilla oak, with some chocolate. Attractive and fruit-forward. Brisk acidity, somewhat primary, moderate tannins. Decent length. Appealing and polished. Neat, even if not the most profound. Drink 2019-2024

Pale white gold coloured with an intense nose of Guava and passion fruit with a touch of green herbs in the background. The palate shows white peach and hints of flint and has an elegance not often seen in this region. Plenty of acidity but this is nicely balanced by the sweetness of the fruit and the quite full body.

A rather intense black colour. The nose is powerful, concentrated, fruity and woody. The attack is strong and tannic. The tannins are firm, but well incorporated by the smoothness. This is a fine wine for cellaring.

Will match very well with Game, Mature Cheeses…

Here the admirably pure nose presents even more elegant and complex aromas of cool red berries, earth and a hint of humus that are trimmed in a touch of wood. The suave and notably rich medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture before terminating in a beautifully long and delicious finale. This too is good stuff. 89-92 points Allen Meadows

The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots offers a sensual bouquet with dried rose petals and pot pourri infusing the pure and heady redcurrant and fresh strawberry fruit aromas. The palate is very harmonious with good concentration, demonstrating a little more weight and presence than the Cherbaudes, building gently to a convincing, lightly spiced finish. Graham’s 40 Years Old is made from wines of the very highest quality which, following careful selection, are matured in seasoned oak casks of 534 litres until their peak of maturity is reached. These are among the most demanding and challenging styles of Port to produce requiring great skill and years of experience from the winemaker and blender. It is essential to strike the correct balance between the delicacy and elegance which results from prolonged cask ageing while retaining the fruit quality which lends this old Tawny its structure and longevity.

House of Krug chose to create Krug Clos du Mesnil 2004 because the year 2004 succeeded in offering ideal conditions for the maturation of beautiful grapes, with the promise of revealing the full potential of this walled plot. Krug Clos du Mesnil 2004 exalts the crisp purity of a single walled plot of vines (clos in French) in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and of a single grape variety – Chardonnay – from a single year, 2004. After 12 years in Krug’s cellars, it reveals a precise signature and a striking grace.

For Krug, the year 2006 gave birth to a great and classic Krug Champagne. Krug 2006 is generous, intense in aromas on the palate, without any excess, with an ending leaving a sensation of greatness and distinction. For the final blend, the selected wines were those best exhibiting the unique, silky roundness of the year with a good structure and length. Pinot Noir constitutes almost half (48%) of the blend, with the majority coming from plots in Montagne de Reims Nord, Sud and Les Riceys. Ripe and full-bodied Chardonnays (35%) add roundness and opulence while Meuniers (17%) from Leuvrigny and Sainte- Gemme bring tension and length.

Krug Grande Cuvée is re-created every year and the 168ème Édition is based on the 2012 harvest complemented by 42% reserve wines from 11 different vintages dating back to 1996. This is a sensational release with abundant aromas of white flowers, fresh and dried citrus, marzipan, toasted nuts and gingerbread. On the palate it is full-bodied and generous with a deep core of fruit and a wonderfully silky, refined mousse. Immediately enjoyable and ready to drink, however, Grande Cuvée has an excellent track record for ageing and this can be expected to improve over the next couple of decades.
