This historic small 5.5 hectares domaine from Vosne-Romanée went through another example of a successful hand over in 2010 to the hands of the young and talented wine maker Maxime Cheurlin from his grand mother. Maxime grew up in Champagne but Burgundy was not strange to him. He finished his…

“Light ruby color. This too is highly aromatic with its array of red pinot, soft spice and whiffs of pungent earth and humus. There is better volume and mid-palate density to the delicious, vibrant and nicely rich middle weight flavors that possess an attractive mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the overtly rustic, compact and youthfully austere finale. This could use a year or two to unwind and perhaps add a bit more depth.” Allen Meadows Tasted: 10-APR-20

A beautiful intense, deep ruby-red colour. The nose is very pleasant and complex with spicy and fruity aromas. This wine is powerful, elegant and classy on the palate, with tannins present but not intrusive. The finish is full of finesse and long-lasting.

Outer quote mark An exuberant, fresh and ultra pure essence of red berry fruit nose is nuanced by wet stone and herbal hints and leads to detailed and equally stony middle weight flavors that are still quite primary and supported by a firm but ripe acid spine and fine length. A classic Chambolle that should make for a lovely villages. *Outstanding* Inner quote mark Allen Meadows – Burghound

Outer quote mark Mugnier’s 2008 Chambolle-Musigny is a gorgeous, translucent wine laced with sweet dark cherries, menthol, spices and licorice. It is totally striking and inviting from start to finish, with tons of perfume and a seductive, enticing personality. The 2008 doesn’t quite have the immediacy of the 2009, but readers lucky enough to find it won’t be disappointed. It should be even better in another few years, once the tannins soften a touch. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. (AG) Inner quote mark Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The Chambolle-Musigny Villages is produced from a tiny parcel of vines in the southwest portion of the commune and also includes some declassified 1er Cru fruit from Les Baudes and Fuées. From the excellent 2018 vintage, this is surprisingly fruit-laden, juicy and fresh yet has classical Vogüé firmness and youthful rusticity to the finish.

An intense dark ruby colour.  The nose has a complex bouquet of rose and violet floral aromas and fruity aromas, with a few discreet woody notes.  The attack is round on the palate and then the tannins show their strength. This wine is well structured and corpulent, with long-lasting aromas and a fine representative of this famous Grand Cru.

Will match well with Red Meats, Breast of Duck, Game, Soft Cheeses

A rather intense black colour. The nose is powerful, concentrated, fruity and woody. The attack is strong and tannic. The tannins are firm, but well incorporated by the smoothness. This is a fine wine for cellaring.

Will match very well with Game, Mature Cheeses…

Here the admirably pure nose presents even more elegant and complex aromas of cool red berries, earth and a hint of humus that are trimmed in a touch of wood. The suave and notably rich medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture before terminating in a beautifully long and delicious finale. This too is good stuff. 89-92 points Allen Meadows

The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots offers a sensual bouquet with dried rose petals and pot pourri infusing the pure and heady redcurrant and fresh strawberry fruit aromas. The palate is very harmonious with good concentration, demonstrating a little more weight and presence than the Cherbaudes, building gently to a convincing, lightly spiced finish. The Goulots is a case of “less is more “Score: 92/94 A.M Burghound.com

Sweet cherries in liqueur, roses, spices and licorice are woven together in a fabric of indescribable elegance. Words are superfluous in describing this eternal, timeless beauty. Frankly, it was hard to spit the 2009, Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039” 97pts – Antonio Galloni – robertparker.com

“The 2012 La Romanee Grand Cru is the jewel in the crown … Lying just above Romanee-Conti and just below Aux Reignots, this 0.85-hectare vineyard has rapidly become the Holy Grail for many…  an entrancing bouquet with a sense of delineation and poise the will rivet you to the spot: utterly beguiling scents of small dark cherries, wild strawberry and minerals that are perfectly placed by Bacchus himself. Give it a few minutes in the glass and it reveals gorgeous ripe mango and even marmalade scents to add a little exoticism. The palate is medium-bodied with an intense, penetrating opening of citrus infused, dark berry fruit struck through with life-affirming mineralite and tension. There is huge presence rather than weight in the mouth with enormous persistency on the finish. This is a profound expression of the vintage. – Neal Martin – (98 – 100pts) robertparker.com
