Here the admirably pure nose presents even more elegant and complex aromas of cool red berries, earth and a hint of humus that are trimmed in a touch of wood. The suave and notably rich medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture before terminating in a beautifully long and delicious finale. This too is good stuff. 89-92 points Allen Meadows

Founded in 1987, Domaine Henri Magnien is a small family estate, with 6 hectares, located in Gevrey-Chambertin. After working side by side with his father Francois, Charles took over the domaine in 2012 and has taken the wines to new heights. He is considered to be one of the rising…

A rather intense black colour. The nose is powerful, concentrated, fruity and woody. The attack is strong and tannic. The tannins are firm, but well incorporated by the smoothness. This is a fine wine for cellaring.

Will match very well with Game, Mature Cheeses…

The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots offers a sensual bouquet with dried rose petals and pot pourri infusing the pure and heady redcurrant and fresh strawberry fruit aromas. The palate is very harmonious with good concentration, demonstrating a little more weight and presence than the Cherbaudes, building gently to a convincing, lightly spiced finish. The Goulots is a case of “less is more “Score: 92/94 A.M Burghound.com

Around only 3600 bottles produced per year. “The 2009 La Romanee is stunningly beautiful. It boasts the most sensual, sleek tannins imaginable. Sweet cherries in liqueur, roses, spices and licorice are woven together in a fabric of indescribable elegance. Words are superfluous in describing this eternal, timeless beauty. Frankly, it was hard to spit the 2009, Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039” 97pts – Antonio Galloni – robertparker.com

“The 2012 La Romanee Grand Cru is the jewel in the crown … Lying just above Romanee-Conti and just below Aux Reignots, this 0.85-hectare vineyard has rapidly become the Holy Grail for many…  an entrancing bouquet with a sense of delineation and poise the will rivet you to the spot: utterly beguiling scents of small dark cherries, wild strawberry and minerals that are perfectly placed by Bacchus himself. Give it a few minutes in the glass and it reveals gorgeous ripe mango and even marmalade scents to add a little exoticism. The palate is medium-bodied with an intense, penetrating opening of citrus infused, dark berry fruit struck through with life-affirming mineralite and tension. There is huge presence rather than weight in the mouth with enormous persistency on the finish. This is a profound expression of the vintage. – Neal Martin – (98 – 100pts) robertparker.com

With around only 3600 bottles produced. “The 2016 La Romanée Grand Cru has an intense bouquet with extraordinarily pure black and blueberry fruit, beautifully integrated oak, wilted violets emerging with time. It has more flamboyance than the Romanée-Conti tasted the following day, a little more luster. The palate is very well balanced… …This will require serious bottle age, at least a decade, Outstanding.” (Dec 29, 2017) Drink 2028 -2060  96 – 98pts – Neal Martin – robertparker.com

The 2009 La Tâche Grand Cru is still a decade away from the plenitude of maturity, but it’s already a head-turning wine, soaring from the glass with an extravagant bouquet of rose petal, Asian spices, grilled meats, rock salt, espresso roast, rich soil tones, plums and dark chocolate. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, ample and richly structured around fine-grained chalky tannins, with a deep and multidimensional core and succulent underlying acids, concluding with a long, fragrant finish. This is an utterly classic La Tâche that ranks among the vintage’s high points. RP 98pts (Reviewed by William Kelley Issue Date 28th Dec 2018)

This micro-domain of 2.8ha only established in the heart of Meursault was constituted in 1929 from a plot of meursault 1er cru Les Cras. The wines rest in a cellar of the thirteenth century. A domaine that it is now important to follow as the quality of its wines increased in power. In 2017 the Cuvée Meursault 1er Cru les Cras presents a beautiful fat, with a beautiful tension, a magnificent wine and typical of the terroir, perfect value for money.

Jean-Claude Ramonet’s 2015 Montrachet Grand Cru is exquisite, wafting from the glass with a youthful bouquet of lime, lemon pith, toasted nuts, pastry cream and fresh mint. On the palate, the wine combines the amplitude and texture of the Bâtard with the incisiveness and energy of the Chevalier, its glossy, multidimensional attack followed by a deep, limpid mid-palate and a long, penetrating finish. 2020 – 2040. “An authentic masterpiece! This wine should be regarded as the yardstick by which all other Burgundies should be judged. The colour has a splendid golden sheen. On the nose, a multitude of aromas are a pleasure to discover: floral notes of lily of the valley, peach blossom, exotic fruit, honey, grilled almonds, even exotic woods at times. On the palate, the structure is dominated by a harmonious roundness which never imparts any heaviness. The aftertaste is exceptionally long and enhances the finesse of the whole. A glorious symphony of sensations!”.

The only Grand Cru white wine of Côte de Nuits… It is its famous red clay soil less calcareous than in its neighbours that gives the Musigny wines their legendary elegance. The Comte Georges de Vogüé estate has 7.2 hectares of the 10.77 hectares of the grand cru. As authorized by the decree of the appellation, he cultivates on 0.66 hectares chardonnay to produce the mythical white Musigny. He is thus the only producer of the only grand cru blanc de côte de Nuits. White musigny is a unique chardonnay, which is like no other. It has the material and concentration of the great whites of Beaune and the mineral power of the great windfalls. An absolute myth.
