“Deep amber in the glass, this sipping rum offers tones of fudge, and hazelnut on the nose. The supersoft palate brings flavors of brown sugar and toffee accented with orange peel and clove, winding into an extraordinarily long exhale tinged with espresso, dusty cocoa and allspice. Aged for a minimum of 21 years. (KN)” (6/2019) 97 points Wine Enthusiast

An explosion of crackling peat sets off millions of flavour explosions: peat effervesces with tangy lemon and lime juice, black pepper pops with sizzling cinnamon-spiced toffee. Then comes a wave of brine infused with smooth buttermilk, ripe bananas and currants. Smoke gradually wells up on the palate bringing a mouthful of warm creamy cappuccino and toasted marshmallows. As the taste lengthens and deepens, dry espresso, liquorice root and tarry smoke develop coating the palate with chewy peat oils.

A smooth, creamy texture leads into a huge syrupy sweetness, flavours of milk chocolate, treacle toffee, aniseed, orange and smoky tea leaves. Gentle, sweet spices (nutmeg & cinnamon), some cigar smoke, and a very unusual flavour of grilled artichokes. Wood is always present in the spirit, gently nutty and reminiscent of a carpenter’s workshop. A long, sweet finish, with floral overtones, mint toffee and some gentle malty biscuit notes.

Rich Amber color. Deep, peppery and chewy, bombarding the tongue. The first plunge brings forth chewy peppered steak soaked in pepper sauce with the tang of crispy seaweed. As you descend deeper, encounter a mouthful of black tarry espresso coffee that coats the palate with rich melted dark fruits (blackcurrants, blueberries and cherries) and bitter almonds. As the taste soaks in deeper, star anise and hickory dry out the palate before a surprise of chalky effervescent violets fizz to the surface.

Long, deep and remaining powerful into the finish with black tarry coffee, chocolate coated cherries and hot pepper sauce, the lingering memories of your mysterious and daring journey into Corryvreckan.

Pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’, it’s a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. Ardbeg Uigeadail was voted by the 120,000+ strong Ardbeg Committee as their favourite Ardbeg.

Full flavoured and rich with a deep mouth-coating texture, the taste is an intriguing balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoky flavours. The flavour is initially sweet. A burst of winter spices sets off a smoky-spicy explosion countered by a sumptuous mid-palate of honey glazed smoked food and chewy treacle. Waves of deep smoky tones and rich aromas build up on the palate like a fine Montecristo cigar.

Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones and rich aromatic smoke into the perfectly integrated finish.

“This is aromatically similar to the straight Meursault villages but with more prominent floral nuances. The solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors brim with sappy dry extract and excellent richness to the palate coating and nicely powerful finish. This appealingly textured effort is quite tightly wound and will need time in bottle to fully mature. *Outstanding*” 90-92 points Allen Meadows – Burghound

Outer quote mark A whiff of matchstick character can be found on the aromas of pear, apple and citrus rind. The rich, plum and very round flavors possess both good energy and volume before concluding in a citrusy and agreeably dry if not especially complex finale where a touch of gas is present. “Light ruby color. This too is highly aromatic with its array of red pinot, soft spice and whiffs of pungent earth and humus. There is better volume and mid-palate density to the delicious, vibrant and nicely rich middle weight flavors that possess an attractive mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the overtly rustic, compact and youthfully austere finale. This could use a year or two to unwind and perhaps add a bit more depth.” Allen Meadows Tasted: 10-APR-20

Domaine Ramonet is undoubtedly regarded as one of the finest producers in the Côte de Beaune and, whilst best known for their incredible Premiers and Grand Crus Chardonnays from Chassagne-Montrachet, they also make superb Aligoté from the village of Bouzeron, which is located just 5km away. The 2016 is a lovely wine from an appellation devoted to this oft-underrated variety, leaping from the glass with delicious scents of white apple flesh, spring flowers and toasty oak. Medium- to full-bodied, it is sleek and supple, with bright acidity, ample mid palate concentration and a long, mineral finish.

  • Brugal 1888 is the exquisite result of wood mastery and double aging. This dark amber clean coloured rum spends up to eight years in American oak bourbon casks and then goes through a second period of aging in European oak first-fill Spanish sherry casks for a further six years.

With a dedication to excellent rum making, Brugal 1988 releases a spicy fragrance with hints of roasted coffee, cinnamon, dried fruits and chocolate. On the palate, it is smooth and full-bodied, with lingering flavours of toffee caramel, wood and liquorice.

The Brugal Anejo Superior is matured for up to five years in specially selected ex-bourbon American oak casks and undergoes a distillation process that eliminates many heavy alcohols that other rums contain.

The end result is a bright amber rum with hints of wood and subtle chocolate aromas, and a buttery caramel flavour that seduces the palate.
